🔊 Speaker Test

Test your speakers or headphones online — check left/right channels and frequency range. Free, instant, no download needed.

Channel Test

Confirms the tone plays only from the correct side (best tested with headphones or well-separated speakers)

Frequency Sweep

20 Hz — 18,000 Hz over 12 seconds

Listen for the tone cutting out or distorting at any point — that can indicate a damaged speaker or a frequency range it can't reproduce. Most people can't hear much below ~30Hz or above ~16,000Hz even with healthy hearing, especially as age increases — silence at the extreme ends isn't necessarily a speaker problem.

⚠️ Start with a low volume, especially when testing with headphones — the frequency sweep and full-volume tones can be uncomfortably loud.

About This Tool

This tool helps you check that your speakers or headphones are working correctly. Play a test tone in the left channel, right channel, or both, to confirm your stereo audio is correctly balanced and both sides are functioning. A frequency sweep plays a tone that gradually rises from 20 Hz to 18,000 Hz over 12 seconds, letting you listen for any point where the sound cuts out, distorts, or sounds noticeably weaker — a useful way to spot a damaged speaker or driver issue.

Common Use Cases

  • Checking that both left and right speakers or headphone channels are working
  • Testing new headphones or speakers before relying on them for a call or media
  • Diagnosing a speaker that sounds muffled or distorted at certain frequencies
  • Confirming audio balance after connecting a new audio device

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to use at full volume?

Start at a low volume, especially with headphones — sudden loud tones can be uncomfortable or, at high volumes, potentially harmful to your hearing. Use the volume slider to adjust before testing.

Why can't I hear the very start or end of the frequency sweep?

Most people can't hear frequencies much below about 30 Hz or above about 16,000 Hz, even with healthy hearing — this narrows further with age. Silence at the extreme ends of the sweep is usually normal human hearing range, not necessarily a speaker problem.

Is any audio recorded?

No. All tones are generated locally in your browser using the Web Audio API — nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.
